Celebration of 20 years of Cruise Travel by Tyne Port!!


The Port Of Tyne which is located in north east England has launched its first first cruise call, Cunard’s Royal Viking Sun on 30 August 1999.

Since then there has been rise in cruise holidays and popularity has went to such a level that 2 million British people have chosen to have cruise holiday last year.

Around USD 9.59 million has been invested in Port of Tyne for passenger facility in the last 20 years.

Graeme Hardie, head of operations at Port of Tyne said: “In the last 20 years the Port of Tyne has welcomed over 700,000 cruise passengers from 60 different cruise lines on 450 cruise calls. The combined economic contribution of the Port of Tyne cruise and ferry operations adds some USD 67.12 million to the North East economy and supports thousands of jobs in the tourism and hospitality sector.”

In past 20 years it has received visit from one of the most luxurious residences in the sea , The World in 2011.

2016 was the big year as they received call from “Disney Magic” to handle 5 passenger ship in one day and this year it will welcome 59 cruise call.
